Verna Christy, RN, PsyD.
Dr. Christy attended UNLV and Olivet Nazarene University to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Psychology. She earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University and a Doctor of Psychology Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology. She holds current licensure in both Nursing and Psychology in the state of Wisconsin and a certificate in Integrated Primary Care through the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
In her work with individuals who experience a broad range of behavioral, emotional, cognitive and medical disorders, Dr. Christy strives to integrate Christian Biblical truths with principles of psychological health. She is committed to helping clients achieve a deeper understanding of difficult past and present circumstances so each person may move toward optimum psychological, physical and spiritual health. She utilizes an interpersonal approach with cognitive-behavioral techniques, relaxation work, and health behavior coaching as determined by a client’s needs.
Dr. Christy’s interests include adolescent and adult anxiety and depression as well as neurodevelopmental disorders such as autistic spectrum disorders, Bipolar Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. She enjoys working with parents of behaviorally disordered children and parents of adult children with chronic mental illness issues. She particularly enjoys working with the older adult population experiencing life and health status changes.
